Upcoming Spring Holidays at Hendricks Chapel

Over the months of April and May, many religious chaplaincies will celebrate holidays. From Easter and Holy Week, to Passover and Ramadan, it is a busy time for students of all faiths. Below is the schedule of events for the Chaplaincies over the course of these sacred times…

 

Muslim Chaplaincy

  • Ramadan begins at Sunset on Friday, April 1 and will last 30 days this year.
  • Iftars will take place in Hendricks Chapel’s Noble Room on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings during the Holiday.
  • Monday, May 2 – Eid al-Fitr will be celebrated with a Service in the Main Chapel at 9:30 AM, and will be followed by an Eid Brunch in the Noble Room.

Holy Thursday, April 14

  • 7 PM @ Catholic Center – Mass of the Lord’s Supper (includes washing of the feet) followed by Dinner
  • Available until 9 PM @ Catholic Center – Eucharistic Adoration **

Good Friday, April 15

  • 12 PM @ Hendricks Chapel – Good Friday Service
  • 3 PM @ Catholic Center – Celebration of the Lord’s Passion
  • 4:30 PM @ Catholic Center – Stations of the Cross

Holy Saturday, April 16

  • 7:30 PM @ Catholic Center – Easter Vigil Mass
    • Includes Baptisms, First Communions, Confirmations and renewal of Baptismal promises

Easter Sunday, April 17

  • 10:30 AM @ Catholic Center – Easter Sunday Mass
  • 1 PM @ Hendricks Chapel – Easter Sunday Mass **

Holy Thursday, April 14

  • 7 PM @ Koinonia House (@ the Parsonage 100 Berkeley Drive) – Remembrance of the Last Supper
    • We will celebrate the Gift of Communion and Jesus’ Call to Service and share a meal like the one ate with His disciples.

Good Friday, April 15

  • 12 PM @ Hendricks Chapel – Ecumenical Service
  • 4:30 PM @ Small Chapel in Hendricks – Good Friday Tenebrae

Easter Sunday, April 17

  • CHRIST IS RISEN – ALLELUIA
  • 5:30 PM – Celebration of New Life in Christ

Hillel @ SU

First Night Seder, Friday April 15

  • Doors open 5:30, Seder begins 6 PM @ Goldstein Auditorium in Schine Student Center – First Night Seder. To register, please visit http://bit.ly/firstnightsedersu

Second Night Seder, Saturday April 16

Three Options for Second Night Seder:

  1. A Hillel-hosted Seder will take place at the Winnick Hillel Center (102 Walnut Place). Doors open @ 5:30, Seder begins at 6 PM.
  2. Students can join for just the dinner @ Winnick Hillel Center following the Seder (approximately 6:45 PM).
  3. Students can host their own Seder. It does not matter if there are 2 or 20 people, Hillel will provide up to $10/person for students who host their own Passover seder/meal. Hillel will send a reimbursement in the week after Seder.

Meals Available

Hillel will offer two Kosher-for-Passover meals per day throughout the holiday.

  • Lunch will be served from 11 AM – 2 PM and Dinner will be served from 5 PM – 7 PM. Please visit the Winnick Hillel Center to receive these meals.
