Weddings

Hendricks Chapel is a premier wedding venue in Central New York, offering memorable photo opportunities on our iconic steps and in the grand Main Chapel. Our team is dedicated to working with each couple to ensure their wedding day meets the moment and reflects their wishes.

As an interfaith space at the heart of Syracuse University, we are honored to host couples of all faiths, sexualities, and gender identities, as well as those who identify as non-religious. Hendricks Chapel is open to hosting ceremonies for all couples, regardless of their affiliation with the university. Our wedding season runs from the weekend before Memorial Day through mid-August.

Scheduling and Requests

Please complete the Online Request Form. Our team will respond within three (3) business days with availability, pricing, and next steps. If your date is open, we will place a temporary hold while you complete the Wedding Reservation Form and submit payment. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  • Can we bring our own officiant?

Yes, if legally recognized in New York State (documentation is required). Chapel chaplains may also officiate, subject to availability.

  • What are the photography and videography guidelines?

Photographers and videographers check in with the officiant and event coordinator on arrival and keep cameras to designated areas (balconies, or under them on the main floor). With the couple’s consent they may roam, but must not walk on stage, block sightlines, or distract from the ceremony. Flash and extra lighting require the couple’s consent. Drones are not permitted.

  • What are the florist guidelines?

Florists may arrive up to two hours before the ceremony; exceptions can be requested directly with Chapel staff. Tape is not allowed on pews or walls; use the pew holes with ribbon or pipe cleaners. All materials must be removed within your three-hour window, as there is no storage. Helium balloons are not allowed inside.

  • What are the music guidelines?

Music must be free of profanity and approved by your officiant. Please tell the Chapel your musicians’ names, how they will perform, and the equipment they need. A device is available for playlists, but you must provide someone to run it. Musician fees are paid separately.

  • What is not permitted?

Alcohol and recreational drugs, drones, and birdseed or confetti (inside or outside). Overstaying or damaging property may result in a fine. Vendors who violate guidelines may be banned from Chapel weddings.

  • Can we host our reception on campus?

The University does not host wedding receptions on campus. Chapel staff can assist with recommendations or partnerships with Drumlins Country Club.

  • Is parking available?

Parking arrangements are made with the Chapel team and are subject to other university programs and events.
